Hemolysis Test

The hemolysis test uses the bacteria's ability to lyse red blood cells. The bacteria is plated in blood again. Different species of bacteria contain different classes of hemolysin, the enzyme that catalyzes red blood cells. The pattern can help identify the species of bacteria.
